The year of Lear continues with “Queen Lear”.
Following hot on the heels of recent London productions starring Antony Sher and Glenda Jackson, Artman English’s liberally abridged adaptation of King Lear completes the season!
Artman’s customary force and style mean that Queen Lear is no Shakespeare anniversary museum piece. Viscerally accompanied by an acoustic backdrop as uncompromising as the text and with a cast of 13 from Spain / Lithuania / Italy / France / Germany and Colombia, the internationalism of the production resonates set against the backdrop of our times.
Artman English has staged fifteen performances over the last four years, including sold out shows in Budapest (The Green Cat Theatre Bar & MÜSZI), Barcelona (Tinta Roja) and Madrid (El Umbral de Primavera), and we are delighted to offer non-native English speakers the thrill of performing Shakespeare to a live audience in this 400th anniversary year.
The Artman English Ensemble will perform at Lost Theatre for two nights (9th-10th June), with great live acts from within the Artman family supporting both performances and an extended afterparty on Saturday...
With Queen Lear, live music, spoken word, rapping, comedy, dj, dancing and more...
What can I say to you, but “Whilst I can vent clamour from my throat, I’ll tell thee, thou must party!”
